Festus softball hoping to slug its way to more success

(Festus) The Festus Tigers are hoping that the 2020 softball season is as full of fireworks as last season.
Festus slugged its way to 13 wins and a spot in the district semifinals.
But Tigers head coach Jeff Montgomery says, especially after the graduation of middle infielder Abby Rickermann, they’ll have to improve their pitching and defense to take the next step.
But when it comes to hitting, the Tigers have a chance to be an absolute juggernaut.
Festus bashed 17 home runs as a team and scored over 200 runs in 2019.
Montgomery says his group could be even better because they’re a year older.
Veteran power hitters like seniors Morgan Green, McKenna Templeton and Paige Perry are why Montgomery believes his team can overcome just about any obstacle.
Festus opens the 2020 fall softball season at home against Farmington on September 1st.
