Festus train derailment clean-up efforts

(Festus) Personnel with Union Pacific railroad continue the clean-up efforts after a train derailment in Festus on Monday. Several cars carrying rock and gravel tipped over spilling their loads near Larry G. Crites Memorial Park (West City Park). Festus City Administrator Greg Camp says it could have been much much worse.

Camp says things won’t get back to normal for several more days.

The railroad crossing at Old State Highway “A” near the park remains closed to traffic as well as the east entrance into the West Ridge Subdivision.
