Festus volleyball looks to hit it big in 2020

(Festus) Winning is nothing new for Festus High School volleyball.

The Tigers came one win away from the Class 3 state championships in 2018, and they added 21 wins last season.

But coming up short of a district title leaves something to be desired. Head coach Karne Biehle says making up for that starts with fundamentals.

But even without all-state outside hitter Bria Garmon, the Tigers will still be a force up front.

Senior Lillian Brickhaus and junior Kinsey Benack are back at hitter, and seniors Jessica Hebenstreit and sophomore Claire Martin return as middle blockers.

Biehle says all those players getting experience last year is a huge plus.

So, with the cupboard far from bare, Biehle is still setting the bar for her team at a championship height.

Festus is scheduled to begin the 2020 volleyball season on Tuesday at Ste. Genevieve.
