Festus Woman Admits in Federal Court to Embezzling Thousands From Former Employer

(St. Louis)  A woman from Jefferson County admitted Wednesday to embezzlement from her former employer this week at the federal courthouse in St. Louis.

A news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office says 49-year-old Crystal Hendrix of Festus admitted to embezzling thousands of dollars from a St. Louis County realty company she worked for.

Hendrix says she is guilty of three counts of wire fraud.

She admitted to hatching a scheme to defraud the real estate company.

Hendrix handled payroll as part of her duties and also had access to the company bank accounts. From about January 8th of 2018 to December 9th of 2020,

Hendrix sent over 140 payments from the company bank account to her own bank account, totaling just over 483-thousand dollars.

Hendrix said she used the money at restaurants and to buy a vehicle.

As part of her guilty plea in this plea agreement, Hendrix agrees to forfeit money and property equal to the amount of her fraud.

At her sentencing on June 1st, Hendrix will be ordered to repay the money she stole.
