(FESTUS) The Festus wrestling season has been underway for a few weeks now with first-year head coach Jason Nahlik seeing some good results so far.

On the boy’s side, Luke Shaver has lost just one match out of 15 and first-year wrestler Jacob Folk has already been a tournament champ, sweeping all five of his 220-pound matches in the Affton Tournament by way of pin in the first round.

Coach Nahlik agreed that it was quite impressive to see Folk, a first-year wrestler, win at Affton the way he did.

As for Luke Shaver, Coach Nahlik says that he is a model of consistency.

Coach Nahlik is referring to the Liberty-Wentzville 170-pound championship bout this past weekend where Shaver lost to a kid from Dexter.

As for the girls this season, Coach Nahlik and the Tigers have had impressive performances from the Mills sisters and Kirsten Klein.

Coach Nahlik adds that girls wrestling will now have the Top 4 finishers at districts qualify for state. In duals this season, the girls are 3-1 and the boys are 4-1.

The Festus boys will participate this Saturday in the Chaminade Prep Tournament while the girls will wrestle at the Mehlville Tournament this Saturday.
