Filing Opens For August Primary

(Jefferson City) The filing period for Missouri’s 2022 primary election has started.

In some courthouses, the line was already long as officials showed up to accept the paperwork.

The opening comes as the fight in the Missouri Senate over redistricting continues.

There is no specific deadline to complete the work of drawing new political maps but candidates for Congress have to file by March 29th and voters need to know who they might be voting for.

The election is on the calendar for August 2nd.

Filing opened Tuesday and the only map in place is the one passed by the General Assembly in 2011.
