Final Day of Fredericktown Girls Tournament on J98

(Fredericktown) Tomorrow on J98 is the final day of the Girls Basketball Fredericktown Tournament. The first game of the day is for fifth place and features two winless teams: Perryville and Arcadia Valley. The Pirates narrowly fell to Naylor 52-49 in overtime on Tuesday and ran into a tough Central team that is ranked 2nd in Class 4. On the flip side, it’s been a rough tournament for the Tigers. AV has been outscored 97-32 in their last two games but is looking to turn it around against Perryville at 12:00.

The third-place game is between Naylor and the host team Fredericktown. The Black Cats are led by senior Kyndal Dodd who put up 26 points in their sole victory over Arcadia Valley, but she also has some help with two emerging freshmen in PJ Reutzel and Callie Allgier. Both Reutzel and Allgier have had a game in double-figure scoring and have been great additions to the team. Naylor comes into this game at 3-1 with wins against Bakersfield, Couch, and Perryville. Their sole loss comes from the Central Rebels.

Speaking of the 2nd ranked team in Class 4, they take on the Potosi Trojans in the championship game of the Fredericktown Tournament. Rebels Head Coach Josh Mapes says the whole team is chipping into their hot start.

Mapes says that the Trojans are a tough matchup.

First-year head coach for Potosi Allie Golden returns to the Trojans to lead the Purple-and-Gold. While the former two-time Dream Teamer is the all-time leading scorer at the high school, she wants her girls to focus on defense.

Golden says it’s going to take a team effort against Central.

The final day of the Fredericktown Tournament is tomorrow starting with the Fliegs Equipment Pregame Show at 11:45. Perryville vs Arcadia Valley starts the day followed by Fredericktown vs Naylor and finishes with Central vs Potosi. You can listen to all three matchups on J98.
