Fire crews battle residential fire in Byrnes Mill

(Byrnes Mill) Firefighters rushed to the 4000 block of Lower Byrnes Mill Road in Byrnes Mill on Thursday morning in reference to a 1st alarm residential fire.

Crews were dispatched shortly before 8am and when they arrived on scene they reported a large amount of fire in the kitchen area with smoke coming from multiple points throughout the home.

High Ridge Fire Protection District Captain John Barton says law enforcement was on scene and had already gotten two people who where in a screened in porch area to exit the residence.

All five people made it out okay and nobody required transportation to the hospital. However, a dog did perish in the fire.

Once all occupants were out of the home, firefighters continued their attack.

The cause of the fire appears to be cooking related and is not considered suspicious.

High Ridge was assisted by the Eureka, Antonia and Cedar Hill Fire Protection Districts.

Big River Ambulance was on scene to assist with any medical needs.
