Firefighters Rush to Vehicle Fire at the Pumps of De Soto Area Gas Station

(De Soto) Fire crews rushed to the 12400 block of Highway 21 in De Soto, near Highway 110 for a report of a vehicle on fire at the pumps of the BP gas station.

De Soto Rural Fire Chief Tom Fitzgerald says the call came in shortly before 4 Wednesday afternoon.

Crews out of the station 1 house were already on a separate accident call at the time of the fire so De Soto City Fire was first on scene.

The gas station building did not receive any internal damage from the fire.

According to Chief Fitzgerald Highway 21 was shutdown for around 45 minutes with crews remaining on scene until around 9pm when the truck was towed away and the last of the fuel was cleaned up.

The fire is believed to have started in the engine compartment of the vehicle; however, the exact cause of the blaze is unknown.

The Missouri State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.
