First Hunting Season Underway

(St. Louis) The first of several hunting seasons for this fall and winter began today in the Show-Me State. Dove season runs through November 29th. Lieutenant Tim Tallent works out of the St. Louis Regional Conservation Office. He says the weather for dove hunters is looking good right now.

Tallent says you can dove hunt right here in the listening area.

We asked Tallent what’s the best way to prepare dove.

For Missouri’s dove season, there’s a daily limit of 15 and a possession limit of 45. Adult dove hunters do need a small game permit and a state migratory bird hunting permit. Public places to hunt dove include Horton Farm Conservation Area in Ste. Genevieve County, along with Busch Wildlife, Weldon Springs, and Columbia Bottoms Conservation areas. Tallent says if you have any questions about dove hunting, you can call St. Louis or Cape Girardeau Conservation Department Regional Offices.
