(Jefferson County) With flu season right around the corner, the Jefferson County Health Department is telling people now is the time to get your flu shot.

Dylan Steigerwald is an Epidemiologist with the health department. He says the best way to minimize getting the flu this winter is to get the vaccine.

Steigerwald mentions the CDC recommends getting the flu shot before the end of October.

Last year more than 2,400 cases of flu along with 10 deaths from influenza were reported in Jefferson County.People can get their flu shot right now at all 3 Jefferson County Health Department locations.
