(myMOinfoSports) A showdown on the gridiron will be featured tonight on J-98 when the DeSoto Dragons host the Perryville Pirates for the first game of the 2017 campaign. Last year’s Pirates squad finished 2-7, hired a new coach in Blane Boss during the off-season and are looking to put 2016 behind them.

After preparing for DeSoto the last few weeks, coach Boss gets the sense that the game will come down to a disciplined defensive effort from his guys.

The Dragons defeated Perryville in week one last year, 23-15, and wound up finishing the regular season at 5-5 with a district loss to Hillsboro. 2nd-year head coach Chris Johnson takes us through the lessons his group learned from last year and what the focus is heading into 2017.

Looking forward to the rematch, coach Johnson expects nothing less than a “grind-it-out” game from both sides.
