Former Governor Accused of Abuse

(St. Louis) Former Missouri Governor Eric Greitens is accused of abuse by his former wife.

Court documents show Sheena Chestnut Greitens says Eric was physically abusive and demonstrated “unstable and coercive behavior”.

The former First Lady of Missouri is in the midst of a child custody dispute with Eric and she is asking for the case to be argued in a Texas court where she feels she would get a more fair outcome.

Eric Greitens is the leading republican U.S. Senate candidate for the Missouri seat being vacated by Roy Blunt.

Greiten’s campaign issued a statement and it says “Eric Greitens is a great Dad who was married to a woman with a documented history of mental illness and emotionally-abusive behavior. While he spent all of last week on a spring break with both of his boys, his ex-wife went to Washington D.C. for the week and prepared to launch what is clearly a politically-motivated attack against him”.

In June of 2018 after being hit with political pressure, Eric Greitens resigned as Missouri governor amid sexual abuse misconduct allegations from a woman that Greitens admitted to having an extramarital affair with.

Greitens was initially charged with a felony related to that woman but that charge was later dropped.

Greitens also resigned as governor because he was also accused of campaign finance impropriety.

That charge was also later dropped.

However in 2020, an agreement was made between Greitens and the Missouri Ethics Commission, where both sides agreed there was evidence the Greitens Campaign committed ethics violations but there was no evidence Greitens himself committed wrongdoing.
