Former Governor Receives Fine from Ethics Commission

(Jefferson City) The Missouri Ethics Commission is fining former Governor Eric Greitens 178-thousand dollars for campaign finance violations.
A consent order says Greitens can pay 38-thousand dollars of the fine to wrap up the case as long as he does not break any other campaign laws.
The violations stem from a complaint filed in July 2018 by former Republican State Representative Jay Barnes, who led a Missouri House investigation into wrongdoing alleged against Greitens.
Barnes’ complaint said Greitens and some of his campaign higher-ups might have pursued campaign donations from restricted donors and kept the identities of the donors under wraps.
