(Marble Hill) A former southeast Missouri police chief has pleaded guilty to a civil rights charge.

Fifty-four-year-old Marc Tragesser had been accused of depriving a mother of her rights.

The U-S Attorney’s Office says Tragesser had gone to a home in Marble Hill and demanded the mother living there turn over her children.

He said he had a court order, but pushed the mother against the wall when she asked to see it.

He then arrested the victim and her boyfriend.

The incident happened three years ago. Tragesser will be sentenced in May.
