Former Valle baseball star shining bright at SEMO

Since his time as a star on the diamond at Valle Catholic ended, Connor Basler has continued to succeed in his baseball career at Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau.

Basler started right away his freshman year in 2017, despite joining a team with a new coach who had not recruited him.

And yet Basler hasn’t just started for Andy Sawyers, he’s excelled.

The middle infielder led the Redhawks in runs scored and stolen bases in 2019 and was second in batting average, on-base percentage and total hits.

Basler says he wants to add a little extra pop to his swing heading into his senior season in Cape.

Basler says, through it all, what he learned from Nathan Gegg and his other coaches at Valle still resonates.

SEMO finished 23-32 this past season.
