Foundation Awards Grants to Richwoods & Bourbon Schools

(Richwoods) The Meramec Regional Community Foundation has awarded the Richwoods School District in Washington County a 250-dollar grant for it’s Project Safety First.

This year, the foundation reviewed 16 grant applications, requesting a total of $4,000 and representing projects in Crawford, Dent, Gasconade, Maries, Osage, Phelps, Pulaski and Washington counties.

The Richwoods K through 8th grade district was one of six projects selected for funding.

Richwoods is located in a rural area where cellphone reception is very limited.

In order to alleviate the complications this causes, the school district is working to fund 15 handheld radios for staff to provide direct contact while on the school campus.

Each radio costs 189-dollars and that is what the school will use this grant for.

One other area recipients receiving a 250-dollar grant includes the Bourbon School District for it’s Caring Closet Project.

This grant awarding foundation is an outgrowth of the Meramec Regional Planning Commission.
