(FESTUS) Two district runner-ups from last season are going head-to-head Friday night on AM 1400 KJFF as the Fox Warriors visit the Festus Tigers to kick off the 2019 football season.

This is a rematch of Week 1 last year when Fox bested Festus 27-6. However, the Warriors graduated all three of their 1,000-yard rushers from last year while the Tigers are returning their core backfield with Jayden Rystrom, Chalmer Brickhaus, Jack Robinson and Austin Anderson.

All of that aside, Fox head coach Brent Tinker knows his guys are ready to rock and roll.

Possibly lost in the hype of the Festus running backs is junior quarterback Collin Doyel, who head coach Russ Schmidt has high praise for.

Both coaches have an idea in mind as to what it’ll take for their respective sides to win the game. Brent Tinker draws his thoughts on the matchup from the Fox jamboree last week.

As for Coach Schmidt, defense and an offense in-sync are two keys to starting out 2019 in the win column.

Fox and Festus kick off the 2019 fall football season Friday night at 7 on AM 1400 KJFF. Link to this and other games on Regional Radio here.
