(JACKSON) The Class 5 District 1 football championship is in Jackson tonight on KJFF and once again comes down to the Fox Warriors and the Jackson Indians.

Last year’s result favored Jackson as the Indians knocked off Fox, 42-23. The Indians come into this game as the 1-seed without a single slip-up this season as they hold a 10-0 record and are coming off a 55-14 victory over Seckman in the semifinals last week.

Jackson head coach Brent Eckley indicated that the team had to overcome some adversity early on this season with their top 2 running backs suffering season-ending ACL tears. Helping to save the season has been quarterback Cael Welker.

The Fox Warriors enter this district title bout with an 8-2 record after beating Poplar Bluff in the semis last week, 41-25. On the Cole’s Tractor and Equipment Football Roundtable Show on Tuesday, Warriors senior fullback Carson Elwood addressed the notion of a certain “fear factor” going up against an undefeated Jackson team at their place.

Head Coach Brent Tinker talks about his defense and what it’ll take to hold Jackson under 35 points, something no opponent has done so far this season.

Coach Eckley addresses his defense and what they should expect to see from Fox.

Jackson will be looking for its 4th district championship since 2013. Fox as the 2-seed will be looking for the upset. Kickoff for the Class 5 District 1 football championship is tonight at 7 on AM 1400 KJFF.
