(ARNOLD) The Fox girls golf team is headed to the state tournament in Kansas City next week for the first time in the program’s history.

The Warriors secured 2nd place in the Sectional Round on Monday at Crescent Farms Golf Course in Fenton with a team score of 335, 34 strokes behind St. Joseph’s Academy. Twins Sydney and Macyn Young shot a 4-over-72 and 11-over-72, respectively. Siiri Pehkonen, from Finland, scored a 9-over-72. Those three along with Amelia Chapman and Cassie Buchanan make up the Fox team. They will also be competing for a state medal on the individual side.

6th-year head coach Steve Boyd spends a little time talking about his three-headed monster of the Young sisters and Pehkonen.

Coach Boyd says the Fox student-body will celebrate the girls golf team making it to state in a special way.

The Class 2 Girls Golf State Championships will be played Monday and Tuesday at Swope Memorial Golf Course in Kansas City.
