Francie Surdyke of St. Pius is National Merit Scholarship Semi-Finalist
(FESTUS)    St. Pius X High School Senior Francie Surdyke is among 16,000 students nationwide to be named as one of this year’s National Merit Scholarship Semi Finalists.
Officials of the National Merit Scholarship Corporation announced the names of the Semifinalists on Wednesday.  The National Merit Scholarship Program honors individual students who show exceptional academic ability and potential for success in rigorous college studies.
According to the National Merit Scholarship Corporation website, the pool of semifinalists, represents less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors and includes the highest-scoring entrants on the SAT and National Merit scholarship Qualifying Test.
St. Pius High School Principal Karen De Costy says Francie is an exceptional student.

According to DeCosty, Surdyke is receiving a rare honor.

Francie says she is happy to be a semifinalist and she puts in a lot of hours of study.

National Merit Scholarship winners of 2024 will be announced beginning in April.
