The Blackcats of Madison County reigned supreme over Herculaneum 26-12 on the Cole’s Tractor and Equipment Web TV game of the week on my mo info dot com.

A suprisingly defensive effort resulted in a scoreless first quarter, before Fredericktown’s backup sophomore quarterback broke the ice to Noah Korokis.

The senior receiever finished with the lone scoring catch and 28 rushing yards.

7-0 was the halftime score, and Herculaneum opened up the second half through the air, including it’s first score at 4th and 2 from the 5 yard line to Austin Huson.

Missed extra point had the Jefferson County Blackcats a point short at 7-6.

Fredericktown focused on the ground game with lead, relying on senior Logan Bowling.

The 43-yard score secured a 14-6 lead for Fredericktown.

Herky continued to attack through the air, as quarterback Jordan Duncan dropped a raindrop to wide receiver Luke Teague.

At 14-12, Herculaneum failed the two-point conversion. Fredericktown would add a 62-yard kickoff return touchdown the very next play, combined with a Tristan Casby 20 yard scoring scamper to secure the 26-12 victory.

Special teams was a notable impact for Fredericktown, scoring a touchdown for the second week in a row and punter Colten Jordan pinning Herky inside the five yard line three times. Head coach Chuck Ford was impressed with the third phase of the game.

Herculanem falls to 1-1 and will travel across town to Jefferson R7 next Friday. Head coach Cody Hunter says he’s proud of the fight his team showed.
