Play starts Monday for two area teams participating in the loaded Class 2, District 1 girls soccer tournament.

The fourth-seeded Fredericktown Lady Blackcats will lead off by taking on first-seeded Cape Notre Dame while the third-seeded Perryville Lady Pirates follow by facing off with second-seeded St. Louis Notre Dame.

With newly updated rankings from the Missouri High School Soccer Coaches Association putting all four teams in the Top 12 in the state, Lady Blackcats head coach DJ McFadden agrees that this could very well be the toughest district in the entire state of Missouri.

Fredericktown is 19-3 on the year and ranked 12th in the state while Cape Notre Dame is 20-1-1 and ranked 2nd.
Meanwhile for Perryville Lady Pirates head coach Jerry Fulton, he knows as well that this district will be a mammoth of a challenge.

Perryville is 18-4 in 2019 and are ranked 10th in the state, while their first round opponent St. Louis Notre Dame is 17-5-1 and 4th in the state.
Semifinals are on Monday in Perryville at 4 and 5:30 while the championship of Class 2, District 1 is Tuesday at 6.
