Fredericktown’s Buxton on Athlete of the Week

(Fredericktown) Fredericktown senior Alivia Buxton is a goal scoring machine for her team. In helping the Blackcats to their second ever tournament championship last week at the Christian Invitational in O’Fallon, Buxton is our Applebees of Farmington Athlete of the Week. In three matches Buxton found the back of the net 15 times. That includes a school-record 8 goals against the host Christian Eagles in the championship match Saturday, the third-highest total in a high school game in Missouri history…

Buxton scored five more goals Monday in a win over Kelly. That brought Buxton’s total to a whopping 53 goals this season and also helped her reach 100 career goals scored…

Fredericktown is ranked 9th in the state in class two with a 13-3-1 record. Buxton says the entire team has been focused this season…

Fredericktown has two more matches to close out the regular season, Monday and Tuesday with North County and Sikeston. Then its off to district play where they could very well see third ranked Perryville…

Buxton says the Blackcats are hoping to play their best soccer over the next few weeks…

Following her days at Fredericktown, Buxton will study and play soccer for Mississippi State University, and SEC school in Starkville.
As Athlete of the Week, she receives a T-shirt, a certificate and a coupon for a free entree at Applebee’s in Farmington.
