Free Meals for Students May Go Away for Upcoming School Year

(Ste. Genevieve) If inflation is stressing you out right now, unfortunately here’s another stresser, especially if you are a parent of public school-age children.

As of right now the free meal program will be going away for the upcoming school year.

Bailey Otto is the communications director for the Ste. Genevieve School District.

She explains what’s happening.

Otto says there is help for families but you will need to hurry.

Otto runs down the set prices for meals in the Ste. Gen district for the upcoming 2022-23 school year.

There is still a chance Congress could extend the federal waivers.

If that does happen, the free meal program would be able to happen for another year for public schools.
