Fun at Lake Wappapello This Saturday

(Wappapello) Lake Wappapello is good to go if you are planning on venturing to the southern Wayne County reservoir this weekend.
The lake was formed by a dam built over the St. Francis River in 1938.
The St. Francis Rivers’ source is actually located in northeastern Iron County, just north of Elephant Rocks State Park.
Becky Hays with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at the lake says Farmington’s record setting rainfall of over 5 inches from late Wednesday night into Thursday morning and even more on Friday morning won’t impact Lake Wappapello for a while.
Hays says they have two fun events lined up for lake visitors this weekend.
The 84-hundred acre Lake Wappapello lies mostly in Wayne County but its southernmost reaches extend into northern Butler County.
