Gas Outage in Potosi

(Potosi) It may be a few days before some Potosi residents have gas service restored to their homes. According to a press release from the City of Potosi, a gas main was damaged Tuesday morning around 8:30 during the installation of a new gas line. This led to a precautionary evacuation of the area. Approximately 900 facilities and homes were affected.

Restoration of gas service to priority buildings such as the hospital, nursing homes, the prison, schools and the jail were expected to be restored by the end of the day Tuesday. Residential gas services are expected to take 1 to 3 days to restore.

In anticipation of the coming winter storm, the Red Cross will have a shelter in place at the Potosi Southern Baptist Church for those in need of shelter.
