Gator Killed at Lake Wappapello

(Wappapello) Alligators are not native to Missouri but that doesn’t mean you won’t come across one.

The Missouri Department of Conservation says an alligator was discovered in Lake Wappapello in Wayne County during Memorial Day weekend.

A person identified as an area resource officer killed the alligator.

However, a local resident told southern Illinois TV station WSIL that more than one alligator has been spotted in Lake Wappapello.
