(PARK HILLS) – Before the boys get underway Saturday, the girls will take the court for the 3rd place and championship games in the MAAA girls conference tournament on J-98. The championship game features the top two tournament seeds, the Central Rebels and the Farmington Knights. After wins against Potosi and Central earlier in the tourney, the 21-1 Rebels look to extend their winning streak to 16 games. Head coach Josh Mapes says he hopes that freshman Sophia Horton can repeat her performance from Thursday’s semi-final again Saturday.

At 12-7, the Knights will try for their first MAAA tournament title since 2011. Head coach Rusty Sancegraw says the team’s energy level will be key.

In the third place contest, the six-seed Valle Catholic Warriors at 10-12 will do battle with the four-seed Arcadia Valley Tigers at 13-9. Valle Catholic pulled an upset earlier in the tournament against cross-town rival Ste. Genevieve. Head coach Lisa Callahan says they are glad to have gotten this far.

The Tigers suffered a close loss against Central Thursday. Head coach Stan Whited says he wants his group to keep up their momentum from the last few games.

Valle Catholic and Arcadia Valley will kick off our coverage Saturday with pregame starting at 12:15 p.m. on J-98. Following that, Central and Farmington will clash in the girls championship.
