(House Springs) This is the first full week of class in the Northwest School District.

Students returned last Tuesday and the new school year has went off without a hitch according to Superintendent Dr. Desi Kirchhofer.

Last month school district administrators decided face masks will be optional at the start of the school year.

We asked Dr. Kirchhofer how that decision is going.

Northwest schools are offering a virtual learning option to students this year.

Of the more than 6,100 students enrolled district-wide, only 50 have chosen to go all virtual.

In addition, 82 students are currently out on quarantine.
