Governor Begins Process of Hopefully Securing Federal Aid for Reynolds County Because of Tornado

(Jefferson City) Governor Mike Parson announced today the State has begun the process to obtain federal disaster assistance for Missouri in response to severe storms and deadly tornadoes that swept across the state last Friday night leaving behind a trail of destruction, including extensive damage to electric power systems.

The governor is requesting the Federal Emergency Management Agency work with state and local partners to conduct Preliminary Damage Assessments and review documentation from the counties of Reynolds, Dunklin and Pemiscot.

Additional assessments may be requested as damage information is received from more counties.

The storm in Reynolds County near Redford produced an EF-2 Tornado that severely damaged two homes where two families were displaced.
