Missouri Governor Mike Parson signed an executive order Tuesday which will establish an office of Apprenticeship and Work-Based Learning, and it’ll be within the state Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development.

The state of Missouri currently ranks second in the nation in the number of people placed in apprenticeships.

Workforce Development Director Zora Mulligan says that’s an impressive mark.

And Governor Parson says the new office for apprenticeships will be key in helping Missouri’s workforce.

Parson wants to continue to focus on workforce development, and he noted that only 28 percent of Missourians have college degrees.
