Grandview boys’ hoops brings on Edwards as new head coach

(Hillsboro, Mo.) There are more coaching changes coming to Jefferson County high school hoops next year.

Grandview High School announced Wednesday that Terry Edwards will be the new head coach of boys basketball.

Edwards was assistant coach to Taylor Hassell for the Eagles last season, and he has over 20 years of experience coaching in Missouri.

Edwards says his desire to stay around the game has taken him all over the state.

Edwards has also worked in school administration at Plattsburg, Pacific and St. Clair and was an assistant coach at St. Pius after his retirement from work.

He joined the Grandview staff at the behest of Hassell, who was a teammate of his son’s at Hillsboro.

Edwards says his time coaching junior varsity and the freshman team last year means his players aren’t walking into a totally new situation.

Grandview will have to replace 6 seniors from last year’s roster.

Edwards says he has a simple philosophy on how to win, even with a young bunch.

The Eagles went 8-20 last season.
