Grandview, DeSoto pushing pause on football due to COVID-19 problems

(Festus) More Jefferson County football teams have had to change their schedules because of the coronavirus.

Grandview announced that their game Friday with Valle Catholic has been canceled due to a number of players still in quarantine.

The Eagles do plan on returning to play on October 2nd against Herculaneum, which will be the Blackcats’s first game back after quarantining for 14 days because of multiple positive tests by players.

DeSoto also announced that they received a lab-confirmed positive test for COVID-19 for a student who traveled with the football team to Festus on September 18th.

Enough players are in quarantine due to contact tracing that the Dragons have decided to cancel this Friday’s game with Windsor and a game at St. Vincent on October 2nd.

This Friday night would have been homecoming at DeSoto, so the school has announced that they will delay all homecoming activities until the week of October 5th.
