Grandview Girls Track and Field Team Takes 2nd at Districts, Boys Claim 3rd

(HILLSBORO) The Grandview girls track and field team took 2nd place in their Class 2 District 2 track meet in St. Louis last Saturday while the boys came in 3rd.
One standout on the girls team was Lanie Dierker, who qualified for Sectionals by placing top 4 in the high jump, long jump, and triple jump. Head coach Michael Loyd says that Lanie is an impressive young athlete.
Other female standouts include Jordyn Zoph and Maddie Click, who both qualified in the javelin with 2nd place and 3rd place finishes, respectively.
One of the boys that stood out with his results at districts was senior Noah Richardson. Noah qualified for Sectionals with 2nd place finishes in the long jump and triple jump, as well as leading the 4-by-100 and 4-by-200 meter relay teams to top 4 finishes.
Quenton Geist was the lone Eagle track athlete to finish in 1st place, doing so in the javelin with a throw of 141 feet and 6 inches. When asked jokingly if Quenton has been bragging about being the only one to finish 1st, coach Loyd says that he has not.
The Grandview Eagles had a total of 8 girls and 5 boys qualify for Sectionals in their respective individual events. The Class 2 Sectionals begin Saturday in Park Hills.
