(HERCULANEUM) The Grandview Lady Eagles are Jefferson County Small Schools Conference Champions for the 2nd time in as many years after a 49-43 win over Herculaneum Friday night on KJFF.

In Game 1 of a doubleheader, Grandview trailed after each of the first three quarters before taking charge in the 4th behind a 9-0 run.

 
The Lady Eagles wound up outscoring Herky in the 4th quarter, 25-13, with this title-clinching moment.

 
Applebee’s Bar and Grill of Farmington Player of the Game Jordyn Zoph was asked between this conference championship and last year’s which one felt sweeter.

 
Jordyn finished the game with 9 points, 6 coming in the 4th. Kaylyn Sparks led the team with 13. The Grandview Lady Eagles improve to 12-7 and finish Small Schools Conference play with a perfect 5-0 record. Herculaneum drops to 11-9 and 2-1 in the conference.

In Game 2 of the doubleheader, it was the Herky boys pulling out a 53-43 victory over Grandview. Late in the 3rd quarter came the Gilster Mary Lee Play of the Game with Jordan Duncan picking up an assist and Josh Moreland reaping the benefits of a nice pass.

 
Moreland converted the free throw and that made the score 30-25 to the Blackcats. Herky outscored Grandview 23-18 the rest of the way. Applebee’s Bar and Grill of Farmington Player of the Game Jordan Duncan says that there were a series of plays throughout the night that he liked.

 
Duncan finished the night with 16 points and Moreland with a game-high 18. Herculaneum is now 6-12 overall and 1-1 in the Jefferson County Small Schools Conference standings. The loss drops Grandview to 3-18 overall and 0-3 in the conference.
