Grandview hopes to stop St. Pius’ unbeaten start in boys’ BBall on KJFF

(Hillsboro) A couple of strong offensive teams will look to light up the nets in Hillsboro Friday.

The St. Pius Lancers visit the Grandview Eagles in an early-season conference tilt on KJFF.

Grandview may have just a 1-7 record, but the Eagles have given opponents fits thanks to the scoring prowess of players like junior guard Chase Wilson, who is averaging 18.5 points per game.

Head coach Terry Edwards says where they have to get better is the other end of the floor.

St. Pius has started the defense of the JCAA Small-School Division championship strong, winning each of their first 5 games behind junior center Nate Ruble and senior forwards Zander Parson and Michael Bollinger.

But Lancers head coach Chris Miller is stressing the little things now that they’ll be seeing old friends in conference play.

St. Pius has owned the series for the last 15 years, winning 20 straight meetings with Grandview.

The Eagles look to spoil the Lancers’ unbeaten season Friday evening at 7.

Coverage begins with the Flieg’s Equipment Pregame Show at 6:45 on AM 1400 KJFF.
