(HILLSBORO) The Grandview girls track and field team will have four athletes competing in the Class 3 State Championships this weekend in Jefferson City, along with four boys athletes.

One of the leading female candidates to do well for the Eagles includes Melina Eaker in the pole vault, triple jump and 100-meter hurdles. Head Coach Michael Loyd likes her chances to make the All-State team in at least two of the three events.

The other girls participating are Krysten Elder in the 3200-meter run, Jordyn Zoph in the javelin, Maddie Click in the shot put, and also the 4×400 and 4×800 meter relay teams.

As for the boys, Owen Johnson finished 1st in the 110-meter hurdles and 1st in the pole vault during Sectionals. Coach Loyd expects Owen to finish near the top in both events.

Eagles junior Travis Love will also participate in the pole vault event while junior Noah Richardson will compete in the triple jump. Quentin Geist is the lone Grandview javelin participant. The Class 3 State Championships begins tomorrow and wraps up Saturday.
