(HILLSBORO) Grandview boys and girls track and field head coach Michael Loyd has stepped down in order to join the Jefferson R-7 School District as a teacher and assistant coach.

Coach Loyd is eager for the opportunity.

In three years under coach Loyd, Grandview had 11 individual state qualifiers with Noah Richardson and Owen Johnson earning All-State honors twice and Melina Eaker finishing All-State once.

Coach Loyd’s biggest takeaway from his time running the program was the team concept his athletes adopted.

As a team this past season, the girls finished 2nd in districts and the boys finished 3rd in districts. With Coach Loyd leaving, Grandview football head coach Dave Dallas will take over the Eagles track and field program. Catch the full conversation with Michael Loyd Wednesday afternoon at 4:30 on AM 1400 KJFF Sports Talk.
