Grandview’s Rodriguez del Peso named Applebee’s of Farmington Athlete of the Week

(Dittmer) Grandview Eagles junior Irene Rodriguez del Peso has been named the Applebee’s of Farmington Athlete of the Week.

Rodriguez del Peso has become one of the top track & field throwers in the area.

After winning the JCAA Championship in the discus toss and finishing second in the conference in the shot put, she won Class 2 District 1 titles in both events.

Rodriguez del Peso launched a top toss of 100 feet 3 inches in the discus and won the shot put by clearing just over 35 feet.

The district titles are the fifth and sixth wins this season for Rodriguez del Peso, and she has finished at least top-two 11 times.

As Athlete of the Week, she receives a T-shirt, a certificate and a coupon for a free entree at Applebee’s in Farmington.
