(PIEDMONT, Mo.) – The seeds for the Black River League Tournament were released Tuesday with the South Iron Panthers capturing the top seed in both the girls and boys bracket.

The tournament will take place from Monday, January 20th until Saturday, January 25th.

On the side of the girls, Panthers head coach Lawrence Graves is excited for the competition, especially considering there will be two state ranked teams in the same gym.

The girls seeding is as follows:

1. South Iron
2. Ellington
3. East Carter
4. Lesterville
5. Clearwater
6. Bunker

South Iron is currently the number one team in the state in Class 1, while Ellington is number nine in Class 2.

For the boys, East Carter and Lesterville man the spots below second-in-the-state in Class 1 South Iron, but Panthers head coach Dusty Dinkins is complimentary of the entire field.

The boys seeding is as follows:

1. South Iron
2. East Carter
3. Lesterville
4. Clearwater
5. Bunker
6. Ellington

In both the girls and boys bracket, pool play will take place during the week between the 1/4/5 seeds and the 2/3/6 seeds.

Whoever goes 2-0 advances to the championship game on Saturday the 25th, while the 1-1 teams will play for third place on that same day.

We’ll be broadcasting on J-98 for four games, the boys and girls third place plus championship games.

Coverage will begin at 12:15 in the afternoon.

The tournament is being played at Clearwater High School in Piedmont.
