(Festus, Crystal City) Several community events are returning this year after being postponed in 2020 due to Covid-19. One of those that will be back this fall is the Great Pumpkin Festival on Festus Main Street. Chris Hagan with Metro Hallmark organized the annual event, but since Metro has closed its doors, the event will be now be run by the Twin City Chamber of Commerce. Chamber Director Tonda Breeze says while the date will continue to be the Saturday before Halloween in which area families can trick or treat on Main Street, one huge part of the event will not be taking place.
The Great Pumpkin Festival will take place on Saturday, October 30th, but again without the traditional costume contest.
