Group home for the homeless in Hillsboro officially denied

(Hillsboro) The Jefferson County Council voted to deny an application for the issuance of a conditional use permit for a group home for the homeless on Old Highway 21 in Hillsboro. New Hope Outreach Center was planning to convert an existing building to become a facility for the homeless. Jefferson County Executive Dennis Gannon says the council officially voted to deny the application.

Gannon is hopeful that New Hope Outreach can find another way to help those in need.

The building is the former Opal’s Motel and Restaurant at 9637 Old Highway 21.
