(Hillsboro) During it’s February meeting, the Jefferson County Health Department Board of Trustees voted in favor to purchase close to 8 acres of land in Hillsboro for the future site of a new facility.

Steve Sikes is the Operations Manager for the JCHD. He says the cost for the 7.75 acres of land will be $762,953.40.

The property is near the intersection of Highway 21 and B in the Pear Tree Plaza.

The new facility will replace the current Hillsboro office which is more than 70 years old.

As of right now, the board is seeking architectural proposals on building plans and designs of the new facility.
