Health department reports first yearly cases of West Nile Virus found in Mosquito’s

(Jefferson County) The first cases of the West Nile Virus was reported in Jefferson County this year.

Brianne Zwiener is the Public Information Officer for the Jefferson County Health Department. She says two mosquito populations tested positive in the county.

We asked Zwiener what are the signs and symptoms if someone contracts West Nile.

The health department’s Mosquito Control and Surveillance program will continue to monitor the area for West Nile Virus cases in the mosquito population.
