Help Viburnum Finish Fundraising Effort for Christmas Tree & Ornament Fund
(Viburnum) A few years ago, Viburnum resident Cheryl Mayfield realized her town needed to get a little bit more into the Christmas spirit.
The retired 6th grade teacher took it upon herself to coordinate a Christmas tree lighting event for the town.
However, she was using real trees and Mayfield quickly realized it was extremely difficult to keep that tree looking nice for several weeks before Christmas.
She says last year’s event was the best yet.
Mayfield says there is a hefty price tag for a large, artificial Christmas tree, but they are getting close to their goal after one year of fundraising.
This year’s Viburnum Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony is scheduled for Monday night, December 5th with a new event planned.
A Christmas parade will start the event at 6 that evening and the tree lighting and caroling will follow at about 6:30.
If your group would like to be a part of the parade, you can sign up by contacting Jennifer Burke Michalek through Facebook.
