Herculaneum baseball look to seize last year’s late-season momentum

(Herculaneum) The Herculaneum Blackcats are hoping that being one of Jefferson County’s hottest baseball teams at the end of last season turns into great results this year.

Herculaneum responded to a 1-7 start in 2021 by winning 11 of their final 16 games.

2 super seniors in Cole Myers and Bryce Hall powered the Blackcats to their last-season surge, but head coach Ryan Dickerman believes last year’s young pups also found their footing.

While Herky will look for some new stars at the plate, the Cats do return a fair share of pitching.

Juniors Jackson Dearing, Dylan Black and Rickey Johnson had their moments on the mound.

Dickerman says they can have more success if they consistently attack hitters.

If the Blackcats are going to make the leap to contender, Dickerman says it will be a game-by-game process.

Herculaneum is exactly at .500 through their first 3 games and will look to improve on their 1-1-1 start when they visit the St. Pius Lancers Wednesday afternoon.
