Herculaneum Beats Crystal City 11-1

(HERCULANEUM)   In a high school baseball game heard Monday on AM 1400 KJFF and mymoinfo.com, the Herculaneum Blackcats beat the Crystal City Hornets in six innings, 11-1.

The Blackcats scored five runs in the second inning and five more in the fourth to gain the win. Having a big day at the plate for the Blackcats  was Dylan Black who was four for four, with two singles, two doubles and five runs batted in.

Herculaneum coach Ryan Dickerson says the team tries to get people on base ahead of Dylan.

Dylan’s brother Devin started the game on the mound and went the distance for the win. Devin pitched six innings, the one run that scored was helped out on a three base error, he allowed two hits, walked one and fanned nine.

Dickerson says Devin showed control of his stuff on the mound.

It was “Senior Night” at Herculaneum, Dickerson says the seniors still have work to do.

For Crystal City, starting pitcher and freshman Cale Schaumburg took the loss. Caden Adams had two hits for the Hornets.

Crystal City slips to 9-11 and they will play at Windsor Tuesday against the 13-9 Owls. Meanwhile, Herculaneum improves to 9-11 and they go on the road Thursday to play the 6-12 Perryville Pirates. That game according to Dickerman is very important because the two schools are in the same district with the district seeding meeting set the very next day on Friday.
