(ST. LOUIS) The Herculaneum Blackcats are off to a perfect start and earned a big win on the road Friday night with a 67-51 victory over the fourth ranked Class Three Principia Panthers to win the Principia Tournament.

Herculaneum is now 4-0 on the season and won each game in the tournament by at least eight points. The Blackcats got off to an 11-0 run to start the game and their lead hovered around 10 points for most of the game, until the fourth quarter when Principia cut the lead to six.

The win was a big step for Herculaneum after Principia topped them twice last year by 21 and 22 points in their two wins. Blair said the team knew they could compete with Principia heading into the game despite last year’s results…

Herculaneum will have the opportunity to defend their home floor next week and play for a shot at another tournament championship. The Doe Run Classic will begin on Monday while Herculaneum will begin their play in the tournament on Wednesday after their first round bye.
