Herculaneum hammers out home baseball win over Crystal City

(Herculaneum) The Herculaneum Blackcats seized control in the second half of the game and got their first conference win of the baseball season by defeating the Crystal City Hornets 9-4 Thursday on KJFF.

Herculaneum jumped in front thanks to a 3-0 first inning, with junior outfielder Dylan Jarvis providing the first big swing.

Crystal City would respond and take a 4-3 lead heading into the bottom of the third, but the Blackcats would roll from there thanks to the bat of junior Dylan Black.

The Applebee’s of Farmington Player of the Game was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate and scored a run to go with his 2 RBI.

Black was also the winning pitcher, allowing only 3 earned runs on 5 hits and striking out 5 in 5 innings.

Herky improves to 3-5-1 overall and 1-1 in the JCAA Small-School Division.

Crystal City falls to the same conference record and 2-4 overall.
